LED movie screen, this is a new hot spot in the cinema market in recent years. With the efforts of the market and screen companies, the popularity of LED movie screens is accelerating.

In fact, the LED movie screen is not so much a technical concept as it is an application-level concept. Why do you say that? Because of the birth of LED movie screen, on the one hand, it depends on the progress of LED display technology, that is, the gradual reduction of pixel pitch, and the solution of technical problems such as low brightness and high gray to adapt to indoor display, so that LED screen can display 2K, 4K, 8K, etc. High-definition and ultra-high-definition content, and there is no graininess and discomfort when viewing from a competitive distance.

In essence, from a technical point of view, the LED movie screen is not a maverick existence, but a branch of the market segment application of the theater in the evolution of the LED screen. The more important reason for leading LED screens into cinemas is actually a standard issue, which is known as DCI. As a rule led by a few giants, without this certification, there is a lack of a license to enter the market. So, in the final analysis, at the technical level, in fact, the LED screen has already been prepared, and it is only a stepping stone.

However, as you can see, in recent years, many display companies at home and abroad, especially my country's LED screen companies, have successively made efforts in DCI certification. At present, a small number of LED screen companies have won this certification. With the follow-up screen companies to keep up, I believe that DCI will no longer be an obstacle.

In fact, the initial "landing" stage of the LED movie screen has been basically completed. At this stage, the domestic projects that actually use LED screens in commercial theaters are still very limited, and the projects that have been completed are mostly demonstrative and experimental.

Now entering 2022, the application of LED movie screens seems to have entered a period of steady acceleration. Even under the influence of the repeated epidemics in the first half of the year, it still cannot stop the progress of related projects.

Just a few days ago, a number of LED display companies disclosed relevant information on the investment interactive platform. For example, an LED display manufacturer not only revealed that some of the scenes of the popular American TV series "Dragon Clan" were filmed by Warner Bros. using the V Stage virtual studio built by its subsidiary LED. In addition, in terms of commercial application, on July 1, 2021, the LED film projection system jointly developed by the company and the China Institute of Film Science and Technology was put into application in China Film Beiao Cinema, a tribute to the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Communist Party of my country, becoming the first domestically produced film in China. Another LED display manufacturer said that the company jointly developed a 14m-P3.3mm-4K (101m2) movie screen with LG Electronics in 2018, and passed the DCI certification in 2019. At present, this type of movie screen has been used in theaters in the United States and Taiwan, China, and will be used in a landmark building in mainland China in the near future. In 2022, the 10m-P2.5mm-4K (55m2 area) DCI screen will be launched. Recently, 10 orders for this type of movie screen have been received and will be installed and used worldwide.

If it is said that the LED movie screens in the past two years are still testing the water in small steps, then today's LED movie screens have entered a period of accelerated popularization of a large number of "orders", and at the same time, they have extended to the upstream of the industry chain. In the second half of the year, professionals in many consumer-related industries believe that domestic consumption is expected to recover steadily, providing assistance for the application of LED cinemas.
